CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

The Landscape Architecture Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture beginning in Fall, 2009.

The Position: The Chair is expected to provide vision, leadership, and administration in support of the Department’s mission, its academic programs, facilities, scholarship and outreach activities; work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to set departmental priorities and allocate resources; provide leadership in mentoring tenure-track faculty and lecturers, advocate for the department within the college, university, region, state, and nation as well as internationally; cultivate a collegial environment that encourages excellence in teaching, scholarly and creative activity and service; promote opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in the classroom as well as in scholarly production; maintain and enhance relations with program alumni, as well as the American Society of Landscape Architects and their local chapter; identify and obtain additional resources for the department.  Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

•    A terminal degree in Landscape Architecture, or a degree in Landscape Architecture with an advanced degree in a related field from an accredited institution;
•    Appropriate qualifications for appointment as a tenured full or associate professor in the Department;
•    An outstanding record in teaching, scholarly or creative activity, and service;
•    Ability to provide academic and creative leadership; and
•    Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, students and other groups.

Salary: commensurate with experience and qualifications.
