Xinhua News Agency reports “Construction experts are to scan the ruins of Beijing’s Old Summer Palace, or Yuanmingyuan, with three-dimensional laser technology in order to rebuild some of the original buildings. The laser scanning had helped complete the final reconstruction of a bridge in the old imperial gardens, parts of which workers had failed to integrate due to differences between the design and its original appearance….”

Arabianbusiness.com report that ‘Dubai World Central, will be set new global standards for integrated and environmentally conscious urban design. The 140 square kilometre area, which will be built around the largest airport in the world, will learn from best practices around the world in environmental impact, social cohesion and iconic architecture.’
Similar to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok an Aerotroplis. Aerotropolis’ seem to be the new cities of the future although they have to be carefully planned due to the large amount of noise and pollution that they produced.

On a follow up to the other two Safari posts, I think that iPhone will have a large impact on the user base and market penetration of Safari. As more people buy the iPhone; the user base will therefore increase as Safari is the browser used for surfing the web on the iPhone. Also people will see the functionality of the browser on their iPhone and then download it and use it on the Desktop or Laptop Computers so they can sync all their bookmarks etc. However I think the impact on the purchase of Macs will be far less than that of due to the purchase of an iPhone than that of the iPod.

Checking out my site stats today and it was interesting that after posting the page loading testing yesterday that I got 16% views from Safari Browsers and of those 4% was from Windows. So it seems that many people are installing Safari to give it a trail.
Currently the browsers used to view my site are 49% IE 30% Firefox 16% Safari and 4% Opera and Camino(Mac OS X Browser).
It will interesting to see what an impact that Safari will have I think in the long run it will be a 10-15% of the overall browser market due to people switching to Mac but also because others like the interface and the fan base of Mac products is increasing as the iPod and iPhone will enter the wide consumer world.

I was an avid Mac user until three years ago until I moved to workplaces that were XP orientated. After reading that Safari was available for Windows I thought ok it would be good to compare Firefox (my current browser) and Safari. So I downloaded Safari - fairly quick and then installed it and it opened straight away. The UI is still 2-3 years old and has not changed and needs a revamp its so dull and boring with the grey UI. So I imported my bookmarks and shifted my toolbar bookmarks into the toolbar and this is where i started to notice the flaws and bad UI. . The bookmark toolbar does not let you have RSS feeds where you can quickly roll across them and see the latest stories. I tried using the help but it was of very little technical help.
Then I read the PR from Apple about how fast it loads - I thought that this might be interesting to test.
So I got my stopwatch out and picked few regular pages I use regularly through my normal viewing to see how fast they load.
DIGG

Safari less than 1 secs
Firefox less than 1 secs
IE 7 less than 1secs
Firefox.com
Safari 47.03secs
Firefox 11.32secs
IE 7 33.14secs
Safari.com - not Apple site strangely enough which could be a PR issue if they want people to swap
Safari 22.90secs
Firefox 21.65secs
IE 7 16.50secs
My Blog
